Beth is a recent 2021 graduate from the Environmental Technology MSc at Imperial College London, where she sepcalised in Global Environmental Change and Policy. Her research on this option involved devising solutions to environmental, economic and social sustainability issues in global food supply chains.
Beths thesis project, in collaboration with analysts at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), looked at the policy options available for preventing carbon leakage in the industrial sector within the UK ETS and included a case study on the UK cement industry.
She also completed an internship in the Safeguards team in UNEP’s Policy and Programme Division. The Safeguards team ensures compliance of UNEP-led projects with their Environmental and Social Standards and her role included researching and drafting a report on the internal handling of project-related complaints from stakeholders within UNEP. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from King’s College London, where she developed an interest in Green Chemistry and sustainability. Her final year research focused on methods for recycling Lithium-ion batteries.
