Focus
To identify what impacts the EMFF has had across different areas, such as: environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, innovation, data collection, control and enforcement, fisheries local action groups and processing and marketing. The evaluation will explore the differences in impact the fund had across the UK and ascertain whether the UK priorities for the funding were met.
Partnering with Poseidon, the evaluation will also identify the external factors that have impacted the sector, as well as reporting on priorities for future funding in the UK.
Purpose of project
The EMFF was an EU fund to support maritime and fisheries policy in the EU for 2014-2020. This evaluation seeks to examine what impact the €228.5 million of UK funding had across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The impacts identified through individual EU Member State evaluations are used to inform future iterations of the fund, to understand successes and areas for improvement. In the UK, the impacts identified and stakeholder experiences may be used to establish a new fund for the marine and fisheries sector.
